Privacy

Kedge is local-first. Without an account, everything you enter stays on your device and we do not receive it. Sync is optional and off until you sign in; this notice says what changes when you do.

What is stored, and where

On your device

The boat's profile, its checks, jobs and dates, your ticks and notes, defects, passages and engine-hour readings — in your browser's storage. Photos are downscaled and kept in the browser's database on the same device.

The pulse

Three counts — days kept, complete days in the last thirty, and the time between opening the app and the first tick — computed on the device so you can see whether the app is being used. They never leave it.

The export

A file you create and control, containing everything above plus a SHA-256 seal. Where you send it is your decision.

If you sign in

Your email address, and a copy of the boat's record — profile, checks and dates, ticks and notes, defects and their notes, jobs, passages and engine hours — on a database in the European Union (Paris). Photos are not copied: they stay on the phone that took them. The demo boat is never sent.

If you turn on email reminders

Once a day, the dates that are close or past are read from that copy and sent to your address. Each date is sent once. Reminders are off until you turn them on, and the same switch turns them off.

One account with Taut

Kedge is made by Taut. A Kedge account is a Taut account: the same email signs you in to both, and the sign-in lives in the same place. The boat record Kedge keeps is its own and is not shown inside Taut.

Who else handles it

• Supabase — the database, the sign-in and its emailed codes, hosted in the EU (Paris).
• Resend — sends the reminder emails, if you asked for them.
• Netlify — serves the site and the app. It sees the ordinary request data any web host sees.

What we do not do

• No analytics, no trackers, no advertising identifiers, no third-party scripts. The app's Content-Security-Policy blocks every external host except the sync database.
• No position tracking. Kedge does not ask for your location, and a passage records only the ports you type.
• No selling of anything, and no sharing beyond the services named above.

Photographs

A photo you attach to a defect stays on the device, signed in or not. Treat a boat photo as you would any other: it can show where she lies and what she is worth.

Your rights

Without an account, there is nothing on our side to give you, correct or delete — the delete button is the app itself. With one, the GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection apply: the export gives you the whole record at any time, and a request to the contact address on the Kedge site deletes the synced copy and the account.

Children

Kedge is meant for the person responsible for a boat, and is not directed at children.
