Terms of use

Kedge is a record-keeping aid for people who look after their own boat. These terms say what it does, what it does not do, and what each of us is responsible for. Plain words on purpose.

What Kedge is

An application that keeps checklists, dates, defects and passages for one boat, and exports that record as a file you own. It builds its starting lists from what you tell it about the boat.

What Kedge is not

It is not a safety device, an alarm, a surveyor, a classification society or a flag authority. It does not inspect your boat and cannot know what is aboard or what condition anything is in. Nothing it shows is a statement that your vessel is safe, seaworthy, compliant or ready to sail — those judgements are yours, and they stay yours.

Where Kedge shows what a flag state requires, it names the source on the row. Where it has not verified a flag's rules, it says so and shows a voluntary standard instead. Intervals for services, drills and expiries are common practice, not law. Your flag, your insurer, the manufacturer's manual and your own judgement decide — in that order, and before Kedge.

Kedge never keeps watch. It does not warn you of traffic, weather or water, and it must not be relied on for anything that has to happen at a particular moment to keep someone alive.

Your side

• You are the skipper. Complying with the rules that apply to your vessel is your responsibility.
• You keep your own copy. Export the record whenever it matters to you; the app makes that one tap.
• You do not rely on a phone for a life-safety function.
• You use Kedge for your own boat, or a boat you are responsible for.

Our side

• The app is provided as it is, without a warranty that it is complete, correct or uninterrupted.
• The free tier is the whole application. If a paid tier exists and you stop paying, your record stays readable and exportable.
• If development stops, the app keeps working offline on your device and the export format stays documented. That promise is part of these terms, not marketing.
• To the extent the law allows, liability is limited to what you have paid in the previous twelve months. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes and endings

These terms can change; material changes will be shown in the app before they take effect. You can stop using Kedge at any time, and removing the app removes its data from that device — export first.

Law

Romanian law applies, without prejudice to consumer rights you have where you live.
